The first battle between West Indies and Pakistan in the World Test Championship will be shaping up to a close one. With three out of four T20I matches being washed-out, it’s unfortunate that rain could have such an impact on both sides’ performance from hereon forward.
Pakistan have just sailed away from the Caribbean after clinching a three-match series against West Indies 2-1. The last time Pakistan were in the region, they managed to stage their perfect farewell for retiring duo Misbah ul Haq and Younis Khan by winning both of those matches convincingly.
They only lost one game on this occasion which was recorded as Shannon Gabriel’s brain fade moment that saw him concede his wicket with an astonishingly long handle during the final Test match at Barbados Cricket Ground.
West Indies: Chemar Holder and Shamarh Brooks have been recalled for the series while Gabriel continues with his injury recovery.
Probable XI: Kraigg Brathwaite (c), Kieran Powell, Shai Hope (wk), Kyle Mayers/Shamarh Brooks, Jermaine Blackwood, Roston Chase, Jason Holder, Rahkeem Cornwall, Kemar Roach, Alzarri Joseph, Chemar Holder.
Pakistan: The visitors have named their 19-man squad for the series with Haris Rauf and Mohammad Nawaz allowed to return home to spend time with their families.
Probable XI: Imran Butt, Abid Ali, Azhar Ali, Babar Azam (c), Fawad Alam, Mohammad Rizwan (wk), Hasan Ali, Yasir Shah, Shaheen Afridi, Mohammad Abbas, Shaheen Afridi/Naseem Shah.
